Brilliant Bookshops: Wave of Nostalgia

Haworth is famous for being home to the Bronte family, who lived here in the 1800s, when there were no sewers, excrement flowed down the streets with waste from slaughterhouses and pigsties, overcrowded housing, and an overcrowded graveyard that filtered into the village's water supply. Today, it is full of charm and character with the steep cobbled street lined with a wonderful array of independent shops, one of which is ‘Wave of Nostalgia’.

And what a treasure trove this place is! It has such a warm, welcoming feeling with a whole host of goodies to explore- in addition to the books!- displayed in quirky and original ways! Their collection of mice in- and out of- matchboxes is delightful, making toys to treasure for the young (and not so young!) collector who appreciates something a little different. The shop also carries an amazing range of children’s clothing which (I believe) is made in the shop. Cards and stationery… so many lovely treats!

The shop also offers a fabulous range of books, many themed on strong women- the perfect bookshop for the home of the Bronte sisters! I found a number of real treats when I visited and very much wish I lived closer so that regular trips were possible. This is a must- visit, not-to-be-missed bookshop with something for everyone!
